Too late to Twitter? I am frequently asked whether there is any real interest to be on Twitter? Why should I join? Sometimes, they ask whether it is too late to join, or whether Twitter is a fad? And, quite often, it is “ok, how do I join without wasting too much time?” Here are [...]

The dope on Twitter at the Women’s World Cup – a new world record
Women’s World Cup – a showcase event I, like 13.5 million other viewers in the US*, was scotched to the television watching en famille the Women’s World Cup final between the US and Japan this past Sunday. It was a game that — for many of us, I do not doubt — seemed to have [...]

Is Twitter’s future before it? Or will it wilt with the Weinergate?
Twitter to Fizzle or Flare? There has been a fair amount of chatter (not just tweeting) suggesting that the Twitterevolution is beginning to fade. On the heels of the news that 6 million Americans and 1.5 million Canadians have “left” Facebook, there is much discussion of the end of the cycle in the major social [...]

Where’s the real value in Twitter?
Discretion in Selection To the extent that Twitter is becoming the go-to resource for finding information and staying up to date, the real value of Twitter is in the quality of those you follow. This means that you need to be selective about who you follow. There are three steps to vetting a prospective followee [...]

Twitter All About Character(s) – part 2
How much character in 140 characters It is not about how many characters, but how much character your tweet has. What is a character? In short, I’d say it’s a type of personality. The dictionary definition says that character is the combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another. [...]

None seem more powerful than the one below: the rise in awareness of Twitter in the US 2008-2010. Perhaps inspired by the beginning of the NHL playoffs (go Flyers!), I [...]

Great Presentations for Tweeting Digital Media Sound Bytes
Cutting up your speech into 140-character Tweets A few nights ago, I was asked to deliver a speech at a Media Aces dinner on what makes a great presentation. Below is a resume of what I said, but the point I wanted to highlight, thanks to a comment by Fadhila Brahimi — a master presenter [...]

Gravity interview via Robert Scoble – Interesting Networking!
You might enjoy this interview from Robert Scoble of Amit Kapor, former COO of MySpace and now CEO of Gravity who has launched a free service, Twinterest, that looks at open public social data. In a case of ME-centered ME-dia, Twinterest allows you to review and graphically represent your own interests and find friends with comparable interests and needs. Down the road, new applications are due which will likely help filter (and curate) your information.

Social Media Management Service : Taptivate Friends
When you manage your own social media campaigns, you constantly have to monitor each individual interface, such as the new tweets in one or more of your Twitter accounts, the comments and “likes” in one or more of the Facebook pages, and the connection request and conversations in groups on LinkedIn, to mention just a few. Now, a new service is on the horizon that could bring that to the mobile (iphone and ipad, initially) in a “one-stop fits all” type of service. This new breed of software is called SMMS (Social Media Management Software ), and this particular new service comes from Taptivate.
