The five greatest productivity tools: Evernote #2 of 5

KEEPING MULTIMEDIA NOTES (in the cloud)

In this series, I want to present the top 5 productivity tools that I use on a daily basis.

Business life is a long list of things to do, to read, to remember and, increasingly, to share.  We have to remember so many different passwords, store thousands of digital assets (e.g. photos and music) and reusable texts (for example: your CV or bio). Having all your “notes,” in whichever media format — word document, website snippet, photo, link, audio — synchronized and available for every port is (like Dropbox), an invaluable asset in a world.

Winner: Evernote (hands down).

Memory of an elephant!

Evernote is highly versatile, working across all the various devices (i.e. desktop, smartphone) seamlessly.  It’s like having all your office at your finger tips.  And I note that the iPad interface is dreamy to use.

At the end of June 2011, Evernote had 10 million registered users and over 400,000 premium subscribers.  As of the end of 2010, they were gaining one million new users at the rate of every 52 days. That means that they are probably around 12 million today. (Here are the latest Evernote stats).  For a company that has just celebrated its third birthday, clearly, Evernote value is real.  One caveat: If you don’t have the premium version, you don’t have access to the body of your notes offline.

If you are not one of the 12 million users, then I would highly suggest you try it out!
